CHINA. Cash Specimen, 1866. PCGS Genuine--Spot Removed, Unc Details Secure Holder.
Rulau-unlisted; CCC-unlisted; Duan-unlisted; CL-unlisted. Most likely an advertising piece struck in the style of a round-hole brass cash coin. Possibly produced at the Birmingham mint in England in preparation for the visit by Pin Ch'um who visited Birmingham in 1866. A piece of high manufacturing quality that was obviously machine struck, and of both numismatic and exonumismatic interest to collectors. PCGS erroneously shows the date as 1899. Pieces of this nature were frequently issued by mints and equipment manufacturing companies for the purpose of demonstrating the capabilities of the minting equipment that they produced and then trying to gain contracts with the Chinese government to sell them minting equipment. PCGS SP Genuine--Spot Removed, Unc Details Secure Holder.

Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
