Cohen 443 = BMCRE p. 101 = RIC 449 = Calicó 1882; Gemini III, lot 402 (same dies).
Cohen knew of one specimen of this type---from a schematic drawing in Caylus' mid-18th century work on Roman gold coins in the collection of the French royal family. The subsequent works (BMCRE, RIC and Calicó) all follow Cohen's citation as the aforementioned coin being the only known example. Following the notorious robbery of 1831, this French piece was melted, leaving the specimen in the Gemini sale as the sole representation of this type at the time. Extremely rare, and likely only the second known example remaining extant.
