BARODA:LOT of 20 silver coins of the Ahmadabad mint: In the name of Shah Alam II: C-19, ¼ rupee, ND (1 pc.); C-18, ½ rupee, ND (4); C-19, rupee, regnal year 40 (1), 42 (1), 4x (1), and 50 (1); and in the name of Muhammad Akbar II: C-A28, ½ rupee ND (3); and C-28, rupee, AH1232 (1), year 6 (2), year 11 (1), and without Hijri or regnal year (4) (including extra symbol extruding from the ankus, apparently unlisted); average grade VF to EF, some truly EF, lovely group for this brief series when Ahmadabad belonged to Baroda, during the reign of Anand Rao (1800-1819), before it passed to the British East India Company in 1818, retail value $600, lot of 20 pieces, ex Paul Stevens Collection. The fractional rupees are virtually never found with legible Hijri date or regnal year.
