GALAPAGOS ISLANDS: AR ½ decimo, ND, KM-X1, RA monogram countermark for Rogelio Alvarado, on AR ½ decimo of Ecuador dated 1899, unofficial issue, Unc on AU host, R, KM Plate specimen. Issued for the Penal colony on the Galapagos Islands to pay prisoners for their labor. No documentation exists for the mintage of this coin, so it is of tentative attribution.
