PRE-YUAN MONGOL CHINA: Da Chao, ca. 1206-1227, AE multiple cash (12.63g), H-19.2, Zeno-7501(this piece), da chao jin he means "great dynasty metal equivalent," believed to be a later casting, VF to EF, RR, ex Shèngbidébao Collection. As posted by Laosa on Zeno for this piece: According to Hartill, "The attribution of this coin is in doubt. The title Da Chao was used by other states on the borders of China as well as by the Mongols. This coin is mentioned in the Record of Coins of circa 1094, a century before the birth of Ghengis Khan. Peng Xinwei considers it to have been a Liao issue. Most specimen are later copies", and in the 2012 edition of Liu Feiyan's 'Huaxia Guquan Jiage Tulu' (Illustrated Price-Guide of Ancient Chinese Coins) this type is listed under Yuan Dynasty (see Zeno #116150): "Several pieces of this coin are known (one specimen is in the collection of Chen Guangyang from Singapore), all of them are believed to be the 'later cast'". In October 2010 one specimen was sold for the price of 17325 RMB ($2800) on Huaxia Guquan Wang Auction.
