THRACE, Dikaia. Circa 450-400 BC. AR Obol (9mm, 0.55 g, 6h). Cock standing right / Scallop shell in circular incuse. Cf. AMNG III/2, 8 (Macedonian Diakaia, trihemiobol); SNG Ashmolean (Macedon) 2255; SNG Copenhagen –; cf. SNG Soutzos 219 (trihemiobol). VF, toned, rough surfaces. Very rare.

Although earlier references place this issue at Macedonian Dikaia, the types clearly follow from Schönert-Geiss's last period of Thracian Dikaia (her die study ends in 450 BC). Also, the SNG Soutoz coin, attributed to Thracian Dikaia, is the same coin referenced and illustrated in AMNG, which Gaebler placed that the Macedonian city.
