Jovian. AD 363-364. Æ (28mm, 8.27 g, 11h). Thessalonica mint, 2nd officina. DN IOVIAN-VS PF AVG, laurel and rosette-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / VICTORIA ROMANORVM, Jovian standing facing, head right, holding labarum and Victory on globe; TESB. RIC VIII 235 var. (obv. legend); LRBC 1698 var. (obv. legend and bust type). Good VF, dark green patina, some smoothing.

An interesting and possibly unpublished legend variety, which does not include P P in the obverse legend. Of the seventeen examples in our database, two have this obverse legend, which was not noted at the time they were catalogued (CNG E-Sale 156, lot 390 and CNG 72, lot 1818).
