Pamphylia, Side AR Tetradrachm. Circa 200-110 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing Corinthian helmet / Nike advancing left holding wreath; pomegranate above monogram in left field, H in right field; c/m of bow in bowcase with legend ΠEPΓA around. SNG France 713-714 (without c/m). 16.42g, 29mm, 12h.

Coin: Very Fine; c/m: Good Very Fine.

This countermark was applied in Pergamon. Similar countermarks were applied in other Asia Minor cities, and Price has linked these countermarks to the introduction of the cistophoric coinage circa 180 BC. Their use allowed Attic-weight coins to continue to circulate in the post-reform years.
