Provenance: The back of the official descriptive label is inscribed in a neat hand "This medal was given to me by my Father, John Child, for my 'birth' day, June 27 1887, at 10 Holland Villas Road, Kensington. I am giving it today, June 27 1937, to my first great nephew, Joe Child, hoping that he will like to keep it to give away again 50 years hence.
