Richard Brown (†September 1868, aged 34), proprietor of the Theatre Royal Hotel, Wellington street, 1860-5. He emigrated to Australia in 1866 and was succeeded in the business by Joseph Marsden, originally from Birmingham and formerly of the Pier Inn, North quay; at least one of Brown's tokens is known counterstamped by Marsden. The hotel was demolished in 1994 to make way for a new Marks & Spencer store (Alan Kelly, pers. comm.)
