LUCANIA. Thurium. Ca. 400-350 BC. AR distater (26mm, 15.91 gm, 3h). Head of Athena left wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with Scylla scanning horizon, Δ on helmet neck guard (softly struck but visible) / ΘΟYΡΙΩN, bull charging right, head lowered. HN Italy 305 corrected (lists obverse head right in error). Very rare! Deeply struck and attractively toned. NGC AU 3/5 - 5/5.According to HN Italy, "the left-facing obverse head is extremely rare on both distaters and staters" for this era.
