Republic silver Pattern Peso 1880 MS65 NGC, KMPn20, Janson-31. Gem Uncirculated with lustrous surfaces virtually free of noticeable contact marks, per the assigned grade. A later striking (cf. Carlos Janson's "Monedas de la Republica Argentina", page 297: "no originals known") using the original dies engraved by Oudine for the 1881-1883 "patacon" series. An outstanding example of this scarce unofficial pattern.
