Pedro II copper Pattern 20 Reis 1862 UNC Details (Rim Damage) NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM-Pn92, Russo-EO49, Bentes-E47.04. Mint State with only minor surface contact marks, and two small rim nicks visible from the reverse at 3 and 4 o'clock accounting for the designation. A handsome example of this very rare pattern, among the finest extant despite the defects noted on the insert. A lesser specimen in AU Details certification with hairlines and a few scratches hammered for $1,700 in our 2015 NYINC Signature Sale (Heritage Auctions 1/2015, lot 33592).
