Chile
Republic Peso 1867-So XF40 NGC, Santiago mint, KM142. Quite attractive for the assigned grade old even toning throughout, few noticeable surface handling marks and limited actual wear on the higher points of the design. Due to defects found of the coins of this type, the Chilean authorities decided to commission the Philadelphia mint with new hubs and master dies. Those were used to strike the KM142.1 issue, starting late in 1867. A very elusive and popular one-year type, very scarce in any preservation, and conditionally rare in this technical grade.
Estimate: 3000-4000 USD
