Brilliant Proof with most appealing Cameo effect and mild scattered contact marks preventing a higher technical designation. The rarest date of this elusive type, missing in the Eliasberg and Pittman collections. Also missing in the public auction of the Norweb collection (Christie's Dallas, 5/1985) thus presumably acquired from descendants of the Norweb family at a different time. Rare in any preservation, and very desirable in this engaging quality, with only three pieces of this date graded so far by NGC, the highest of which sold in our 2012 NYINC Signature Auction for $51,750 (Heritage Auctions 1/2012, lot 23852).Ex.
