Mainz - Archbishopric. Anselm Casimir Wamboldt von Umstadt gold 2 Ducats 1638-BS AU58 NGC, KM71, Fr-1651. A handsome example of a multi-Ducat from this era, showing a bold strike for an otherwise typically crude issue, and pleasing, antiqued-gold coloration. As the holder indicates, there is very little wear on this piece and the surfaces are essentially free of any noticeable marks, although the reverse die is slightly misaligned which is common for the type. An altogether intriguing issue that was struck during the Thirty Years' War, scarce in this quality, and highly-engaging as such. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $825 in VF, $1750 in EF.
