George I "South Sea Company" Shilling 1723 MS65 NGC, Royal mint, KM539.3, S-3648, ESC-1176A. "C/SS" variety, though not noted on holder. Superbly toned and fully struck with every detail in George's elaborate hair curls remaining vivid. A scarce variety of this popular hallmarked type, with remnants of the "SS" visible beneath the "C" in the lower right quadrant on the reverse. Very seldom encountered this nice, and every bit the equal to the Gem we sold in April of this year for $1292.50.
Estimate: 1000-1200 USD
