West Indies Slavery Emancipation Medal 1838 MS62 NGC, BHM-1879 (RRRR). Struck in White Metal. By T. Halliday. Obv. Men shaking hands. Rev. 8-line inscription inside wreath. An extremely rare medal within this collectible anti-slavery genre, with surfaces that retain full detail and excellent luster and have only slightly darkened over the exposed highpoints. As much as this medal celebrates the abolition of slavery in the West Indies, it also pays tribute to those who paved the way towards racial equality before and during this period.
