Genoa. Republic (1139-1797) Genovino 1139-1339 MS66 NGC, Fr-351, CNI III-66, MIR-5 (R). + ◦ I ◦ A ◦ N ◦ V ◦ A *, castle within circle / + CVNRADVS : REX, cross pattée within beaded circle. A marvelous example of this early gold issue, bright and fully lustrous with little evidence of post-strike handling. The flan is typically undersized, but the evenness of the strike is exceptional.
