Mexico
Charles & Johanna 4 Reales ND (1538) MM-R Extremely Fine - Light Surface Corrosion, Mexico City mint, KM16, Nesmith-6d. Romboid panel right. Weight is essentially full at 13.17 grams. A sea-salvaged piece, sharply struck with minor doubling and minor surface corrosion. Among the first coins struck at the Mexico City mint, and thus among the first coins struck in the Americas. Very scarce and always popular, a wholesome example of this very scarce and historically important issue, popular and desirable despite the noted slight defects.
Estimate: 1200-1500 USD
