Zacatecas. Ferdinand VII Royalist Provisional 8 Reales 1811 AU55 NGC, Zacatecas mint, KM190. The first Royalist provisional issue struck in Zacatecas, featuring the proper Spanish Colonial arms on the reverse's shield. Well preserved with limited actual wear and only scattered surface contact marks, flatly struck on parts of the devices, including the date (which must be 1811 based on the noted proper Spanish arms on the shield) yet with the central parts of the design unusually bold. A rare technical designation for this one-year provisional necessity issue, currently tied with a single other coin as the finest certified by NGC and vastly desirable as a type representative despite the slight defects noted on the strike.
