USA Administration Seven-piece Certified Proof Set 1908, 1/2 Centavo - PR64 Red & Brown PCGSCentavo - PR64 Red & Brown PCGS5 Centavos - PR63 PCGS10 Centavos - PR62 PCGS20 Centavos - PR64 PCGS50 Centavos - PR63 PCGSPeso - PR63 PCGSKM-PS5 (KM162-164, KM169-172). Mintage: 500 sets. In total, this is a wonderful Proof set featuring seven, select examples that each exhibit their own pleasing characteristics. Both the 1/2 Centavo and Centavo denominations share similar properties, starting with a coppery-brown base accented by golden or magenta highlights that wash over the surfaces. The Five Centavos is fully lustrous, with instances of dappled tone and subtle lilac iridescence upon the reverse. The remaining silver denominations are all slightly different in their own way. Beginning with the 10 Centavos, which is also the darkest of the four, the surfaces are coated in a watery mixture of honeydew, turquoise, and gold. Next, the 20 Centavos glows with faint apricot obverse luster while part of its reverse is dramatically toned in magenta and royal blue patina. The last two denominations are matched in appearance as well as technical quality, with all-over, silvery-gray coloration and varying degrees of russet tone. The open expanses that surround the design motifs express light handling in the way of hairlines, but definition across the devices is noticeably strong. All in all, this is a wholly captivating set in all regards, and one that is sure to pique the interest of US and Philippines material alike.
