Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1779/7 S-CF MS63 NGC, Seville mint, KM409.2, Fr-283, Calico-962. NGC has this piece listed as 1779/75 on the holder, but close examination shows this to be more likely a 7 under the 9, not a 5. This corresponds to Calico No. 962, a 1779/7 overdate. Well struck for the issue, with full, golden mint brilliance and only a few light marks. These early Spanish 8 Escudos are conditionally very rare in Mint State, and this is no exception.
