Republic Centavo 1876 MS63 NGC, Philadelphia mint, KM-Y25. Two-year type. Entirely sharp with gleaming reflectivity in the fields that result from numerous blended die polish lies. Seemingly very conservatively graded, as no marks of any significance are observed on either side and the only "limiting factors" appear to be the minor carbon spotting that are typical of nickel alloyed issues. From the same dies as the ex. Lissner specimen (see the die flaw above the T in CENTAVO) that was classified as a proof and brought $8,000 hammer, and given the appearance of this piece, quite possibly incorrectly identified as a circulation strike by NGC. Worthy of close inspection.
Estimate: 2500-3000 USD
