Republic Centavo 1877 MS63 NGC, Philadelphia mint, KM-Y25. Two-year type. Similar to the previous lot, although slightly less reflective, with sharp design features and no noteworthy post-strike handling. Quite possibly a proof striking as well, as proof nickel coinage produced at the Philadelphia mint during this period often lacks deep reflectivity in the fields and are known to be confused with prooflike strikes from fresh dies. Whatever the case, rare in the present state of preservation, and seen much less frequently on the market than the 1876 date.
Estimate: 3000-4000 USD
