MYSIA, Lampsakos(?). Memnon of Rhodes. Mid 4th century BC. AR Drachm (15.5mm, 2.87 g, 6h). Pseudo-Rhodian type. Youthful head of Helios right on radiate solar disk / Rose with buds to either side; M-E flanking. Cf. Ashton, Solar 9–41 (head right); SNG France –; SNG Ashmolean 671 var. (same). VF, rough find patina. Unpublished with head right.

Historically, this series of "solar disk" drachms have been variably attributed to Megiste, Nisyros, and Euthana. R. Ashton, however, has convincingly argued, based on hoard evidence, as well as single finds, that these coins were struck at a mint in the Troad, probably Lampsakos (See Ashton, Memnon, pp. 11-15).
