KYRENAICA, Kyrene. Circa 500-480 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 9mm, 2.12 g). Silphium fruit (seed pod?). Rev. Four rayed star with a pellet at the center and between each of the rays. Cf. BMC 33-34 (obol and hemiobol with the same types) and BMC 19 (drachm with the same reverse type). Very rare and apparently unpublished. Uncleaned as found with horn silver deposits, otherwise, very fine.
