Anonymous, c. 1250-1300. Seal (Lead, 34mm, 23.92 g 12), a seal probably belonging to an ecclesiast. ΜΗΡ ΘΥ The Virgin Theotokos, nimbate, wearing maphorion and holding the facing nimbate Christ child on her lap, seated facing on elaborate, high-backed throne. Rev. +/TOV TAC ΔЄH/CЄIC ΠPOCΦЄ/PЄIN ΛЄΛΑΧOTOC/ΠPOC TAIC ΔЄ ΔIΔOIC/KAI ΓPAΦAIC KO/PH KVPOC. Apparently unpublished. An attractive and enigmatic seal, with an obverse very similar to the last. Attractive grey-tan patina. Good very fine.
