Mezza piastra (Silver, 35mm, 15.75 g 11), AN IIII / 1588. *.SIIXTVS.V.PONT.MAX.ANN.IIII.* Bare-headed and draped bust of Sixtus to right, wearing ornate robes. Rev. The Virgin seated facing on throne, her hands clasped in prayer, between the kneeling figures of St. Lorenzo, on the left, and St. Apollonia, on the right; in exergue, MONTALTO / .1588. CNI XIII, p. 407, 11. Muntoni 122. Extremely rare. Toned. Struck on a slightly irregular flan, otherwise, about very fine.
