Italy, Florence, Francesco de' Medici (1590-1614), uniface bronze portrait medal, 1613, by Guillaume Dupré, D. PRINCEPS FRANCISCVS MEDICES, bust r., wearing armour and high collar, signed and dated on truncation, beaded border, 86.5mm (BMC.[Jones] 43; V.-Tod, Bargello, II, 106-7; Pollard, Bargello, II, 892), very fine, small piercing above R of FRANCISCVS and edge imperfection (outside of border) by M of MEDICES Francesco de' Medici was the fourth son of Cosimo II. During the Thirty Years War he fought at the Battle of Lützen, but fled. He died from plague during the Siege of Ratisbon. He was unmarried. (£150-180)
