ANNUAL ASSAY COMMISSION, pound troy weight inscribed Bate of London, with three smaller weights, 57.5mm. ( JK.AC-112 [R7]), encased in Perspex holder, about mint state Albert Gallatin was Treasury Secretary 1801-1814. The weight depicted on the reverse was the standard for this weight, brought to the Mint in 1824. A label on the holder states: 'Only 36 of these minted. 28 were presented to the members of the annual panel of citizens, weighers, counters & assayers who checked the 4967 mint products. The other medals were presented to the Mint Bureau and other government officials.' (£300-350)
