ANCIENT COINS, Greek, Thessaly, Pharsalos (late 5th Century BC), Silver Drachm, head of Athena facing right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with volutes and an eagle's wing behind which a snake coils, rev Φ-A-P-Σ, Thessalian cavalryman riding a prancing horse right, wearing a petasos, chlamys and chiton, holding a lagobolon over his shoulder, all within a concave field, 6.04g, 4h (Lavva 107 (V52/R59)). Small metal-flaw in reverse field, otherwise well-struck and nearly extremely fine.
