BRITISH COINS, Edward VI (1547-1553), Silver Crown, 1553, 3 struck over 2, Fine Silver issue, king on horseback right, date below, circles and FRA HIBER type legend surrounding, E struck over retrograde E at start of legend, initial mark tun both sides, rev quartered shield over long cross fourchée, no wire line inner circle, 30.49g (Lingford dies A/18; N 1933; S 2478). An attractively toned example of the rarest date which is always struck over a 2, small scratch above horse's tail and a few small nicks on the reverse, otherwise very fine and very rare.
