Maximinus II (AD 309-313), AE Nummus (23.2 x 22.4 mm 4.54 g 6h), London mint, imP MAXIMINVS PF AVG laureate, cuirassed bust of Maximinus right, rev. COMITI AAVVGG, Sol standing left, star in left field, PLN in exergue (RIC 244; Huvelin --; CT 7.09.005 (this coin)), fully silvered, extremely fine.
Ex Toone collection.
The COMITI issues with the left star mintmark are all very rare. The four known COMITI AAVVGG coins for this mintmark listed in CT (two for Maximinus and one each for Constantine and Licinius) are all struck from the same reverse die. It is most likely that a single reverse die was engraved with this mintmark and reverse type.
