Victoria (1837-1901), a small parcel of 28 uncirculated Pennies, and four Halfpennies, all dated 1901, veiled bust left, rev. Britannia (S.3961, 3962), some with spots or slightly discoloured, mostly brilliant uncirculated (32).
These coins were kept wrapped in a Sunlight Burners cardboard tube with a paper note stating 'This box contains Bronze or Copper Coins struck in the last two months of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria deposited by John Reeves for Beatrice Mary Selina Lowe for a Birthday present in 1921. Dated this 13th day of March 1901. John Reeves' .

The reaction of Beatrice Lowe, on receiving a halfcrown worth of coppers for her 21st birthday, is not recorded, but may be imagined.

The note, written on the back of an address label to Mr John Reeves, 20 Penkhull Terrace, Stoke on Trent, with a penny stamp postmarked JY 15 '97, was wrapped around the box with string. This note and the cardboard box, is offered with the coins.
(£600 - £800)
