JUDAEA, Neapolis. Philip I. 244-249 CE. Æ (28mm, 17.83 g, 6h). Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Eagle standing facing, head upturned left, with wings spread and supporting wreath containing Mt. Gerizim surmounted by temple complex. Rosenberger 75 var. (different obv. legend; same rev. die); SNG ANS –; cf. Sofaer 153 (same obv. die/different rev. type). Near VF, green surfaces, light earthen brown deposits. Though Rosenberger and Sofaer give the attribution to Philip I, the portrait does have a more youthful appearance, lending to the possibility that it is, in fact, a coin of the latter instead.
