The Pompeians. Sextus Pompey. 37/6 BC. AR Denarius (17.5mm, 3.47 g, 12h). Uncertain Sicilian mint. Diademed head of Neptune right, trident over shoulder / Naval trophy set on anchor, top of trident visible above helmet; the arms composed of the stem of a prow and aplustre, heads of Scylla and Charybdis at base. Cf. Crawford 511/2a-c; CRI 333; Sydenham 1347; cf. RSC 1-1d. VF, toned, porous surfaces, some deposits.
