City of Sebaste (Samaria), AE 24 mm struck year 81 C.E. under Domitian ca. (GBC 1613a) 14.09 g.
An exceptional coin of Sebaste bearing a countermark of the 10th Roman Legion 'LXF' (Legio 10 Fretensis). Apparently the finest known coin, much better on both sides than the GBC plate coin (#1613a) and than the example sold at the Heritage-Shoshana auction in 2012 (#20512).
Est. $1,500-2,000
