City of Petra (Decapolis) AE 15 mm struck ca. 120-130 C.E. (Spij.1) 2.00 g.
A rare 'prutah-sized' Nabataean coin in excellent condition on both sides. Struck in Petra a few years after the conquest of the Nabataean kingdom by Trajan (98-117 CE), the nice, stylized portraits of the Nabataean kings and queens are now replaced by the Roman deity Tyche. The monogram 'PM' above the double cornucopia on reverse means Petra Metropolis.
