EGYPT, Alexandria. Julia Maesa. Augusta, AD 218-224/5. Potin Tetradrachm (24mm, 14.30 g, 12h). Dated RY 5 of Elagabalus (AD 221/2). IOYΛ MAICA CEB MHT(ηρ) CTPA(τοπέδον), draped bust right / Eagle with closed wings standing left, head right, wreath in beak; L Є (date) across field. Köln –; Dattari (Savio) 9842; K&G –; Emmett 3051.5 (R5). VF, dark brown patina. Very rare.

From the Syracuse Collection, purchased privately from CNG (954584).

It's interesting that such an ubiquitous reverse type is so rare for Maesa's regnal year five. The obverse legends on nearly all of Maesa's Alexandrian coinage style her as "mother of the camps" (MHT[ηρ] CTPA[τοπέδον]).
