ALBANIA. Franga Ari, 1927-R. NGC MS-66.
KM-6. One of many terrific Giuseppe Romagnoli designed Albanian coins in the sale, and much like the others inspired by ancient Roman coinage design. The coin offered here features Roma as a helmeted warrior facing right, much as she would have appeared at one time in Dalmatia, the Roman territory along the eastern Adriatic that roughly corresponds with Albania today. A terrific example of the type, with light tea colored tone splashed about both sides, and with a halo of untoned bright luster running the circumference of the coin on the obverse, illuminating the legends and the plume of the helmet. A very aesthetically pleasing coin and one sure to please its new owner. NGC MS-66.
