FRANCE. 1/2 Louis D'Or de Noailles, 1717-A. Paris Mint. Louis XV (1715-74). NGC MS-63.
Fr-451; KM-429.1; Droulers-530. Three at this numerical grade, with one finer (MS-65) at NGC with no mint-state examples graded so far at PCGS. Essentially a one year issue, a small emission (4,000) were struck the following year in Metz. Struck when the king was 7 years-old, this single year portrait introduced in 1717 very much resembles what the king must have looked like at that time, a handsome child with long curled hair. The strike on this piece is exhilarating, with the degree of detail present nothing short of astonishing; even the pupil of the eye is readily visible under magnification. The devices are complimented by highly reflective fields blasting rich luxuriant gold luster to the viewer when in hand. A single minor adjustment mark is present at 11 o'clock obverse, which gratefully has not affected the legends or devices. A coin destined for a type set of the finest French gold, and sure to add depth and meaning to the collection it enters. NGC MS-63.

Estimate: $4500.00- $6000.00
