FRANCE. 5 Franc, 1851-A. NGC MS-63.
Gad-719; KM-761.1; VF-3258. Last year from the short-lived Second Republic, Napoleon III came to power in December of 1851 following a coup. Designed by E.A. Oudine, many consider it to be one of the most beautiful crown designs struck anywhere during the entire 19th century. The beauty of the design is marvelously presented here, with just enough tone in the deepest recesses to really launch the details of the design. The portrait has nearly bass relief qualities to it. The reverse is equally impressive, with a brighter area near the center that is as fresh as the day the coin was struck. A terrific example of the 4-year issue, and a coin you won't want to miss out on. NGC MS-63.
Estimate: $500.00- $700.00
