FRANCE. Medals, Tokens & Exonumia, 19th Century. EXTREMELY FINE-UNCIRCULATED.
19 to 68 mm. 43 pieces in lot. Includes a wide variety of material, primarily from the 19th century. For the most part brass, however also included are four small boxed silver pieces that would appear to me modern Paris mint silver medals. Standouts include an undated ca. 1710 copper Louis XV (as child) medal with portrait of his regent (Philippe II, Duke of Orleans) on the reverse. Also, an original 34 mm Napoleonic medal with an epigraphic bust of the Emperor on the obverse and interior view of the Musee Napoleon on the reverse. Plus, 5 medals from Pierre Durand's Galerie Metallique des Grands Hommes Francias series, and 19 from his Series Numismatica Universalis Vivorum Illustrium. All but two of these are original strikings, with two bearing the much more elusive MONACHII (Munich) edge marking. A lot that will provide hours of exploration, with an approximate retail value of $1,350. Inspection advised. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. EXTREMELY FINE-UNCIRCULATED.

Estimate: $600.00- $800.00
