FRANCE. Collection of Napoleonic Bronze Medals, ca. 1804-14. FINE-CHOICE UNCIRCULATED.
34 pieces in lot. A large set of mostly bronze medals (two pieces are recasts in lead which had copper washes) of about 40 mm in diameter and all featuring the laureate imperial bust of Napoleon, most of which are by Andrieu and featuring reverses by Droz, Denon and others. Medals commemorating military victories, political events, civic improvements, personages and localities. Heaviest in pieces dated to 1805 and 1807. One piece is a restrike as denoted by the privy marks stamped on the edge. Duplication of only one piece. Some pieces showing more signs of circulation; rim bumps, contact marks, cleaning, surface residue etc. but the majority with clear glossy milk chocolate fields and uninterrupted rims. A great assemblage for collector's of this era of interest which will reward closer inspection. Retail value of about $4,500. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. FINE-CHOICE UNCIRCULATED.

Estimate: $2200.00- $2700.00
