GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Guinea, 1745-LIMA. George II (1727-60). NGC VF-25.
Fr-348; KM-580.2; S-3684. Struck from gold seized by Admiral Anson during his circumnavigation of the world. Far more common in silver, gold issues with the victorious LIMA proclaimed in the legend are far scarcer and command a much larger premium. Krause lists a catalog value of $4,000 in VERY FINE, the piece offered here is solidly within that range. With most of the details preserved, and original surfaces sporting a bit of orange tone, the coin commands immediate attention upon inspection. A highly sought after piece of numismatic lore that is sure to be a cherished addition for the winning bidder. NGC VF-25.
Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
