GREECE. 50 Lepta, 1883-A. NGC MS-65.
KM-37. Tied for finest graded with half a dozen others at NGC and PCGS. A short-lived issue that replaced the Half-Drachma and was struck for only three years, the first (1868) being noncollectable with a mintage of 60. The date offered here is far and away the better date of the two years available to collectors with a mintage of 500,000 coins. A common coin in the lower grades, but RARE in this state of preservation. Krause lists a catalog value of $5 in Fine and $1,150 in Brilliant Uncirculated. A moderately toned gem with smokey dark amber coloration over essentially flawless surfaces. Destined for a cabinet containing only the finest Greek coinage available. NGC MS-65.

Estimate: $500.00- $700.00
