IRELAND. Mixed Irish Bronze & Silver, ca. A.D. 217-1823. GOOD-VERY FINE.
27 pieces in lot. Well attributed and with only one duplicate. Mostly Irish coinage, along with a nice concentration of silver Scottish material. Includes half a dozen ancients, three of them Roman silver coins and includes several scarce issues. A cursory look reveals the following: Irish silver issues struck under John as King, Henry III, Edward I, Henry VIII, and James I all in FINE or better. A choice VERY FINE British 1561 Elizabeth Sixpence (S-1929). Scottish silver issues include GOOD or better issues struck under Alexander III, Robert III, James VI, and Charles II. Bronze Irish coins include good or better pieces dated ca. 841, 1690 (Gun Money), 1693, 1723, 1781, 1805, 1806, and 1823. Close inspection recommended, approximate retail value of $2,500.
