ITALY. Milan. Ducatone, 1622. Philip IV of Spain (1621-65). NGC AU-50.
Dav-4001; CNI-V.326,13; MIR-361/1; Gnecci-25; Crippa-6c. A handsome example of this northern Italian silver crown with even brown tone. Keep in mind that Spain at the time was striking cob coinage, hence no coinage struck there had a portrait of Philip IV unlike the coin offered here. Better yet, the wear sustained on this coin is confined primarily to the reverse, leaving the hair and nearly all of the facial details of Philip IV vividly intact. An intriguing coin on multiple levels and worthy of a solid bid. NGC AU-50.
Estimate: $700.00- $900.00
