ITALY. Tuscany. Quattro (4 Fiorini), 1856. Leopold II (1849-59). NGC MS-63.
C-75b; Gig-23; Mont-329. The shield within the shield on the reverse depicts the six balls of the House of Medici though more than a century after they had any meaningful influence in Tuscany. Struck a few scant years before the whole of Italy became unified, the design reflects the rich noble history of this magnificent Italian Florentine region. Solid for the grade and without a single mark that generates significant distraction. Bright satin luster dominates both sides with a crisp strike bringing out all of the details. A real masterpiece of numismatic beauty. NGC MS-63.
